The St. George Metropolitan Area includes Washington, a city in south central Washington County, Utah, in the United States. Because the Mormon pioneers who founded the St. George area came to the region to grow cotton, which was then processed at the cotton mill in Washington, the area is often referred to as Utah's Dixie. In the 2010 census, there were 18,761 people living there, up from 8,186 in 2000. Washington, the second-largest city in Washington County, is a fast-growing suburb of St. George.

The American president George Washington inspired the naming of the city.

In recent years, the municipal administration has made an effort to promote the use of the name "Washington City."
